Update: Spring 2023

Voluntary donations from the open days at King Charles’ Tower in September raised over £120 and Cheshire Historic Buildings Preservation Trust (CHBPT) has plans to hold more open days, subject to volunteer availability, at the tower and other locations. If you have any suggestions for other openings, please contact us.

CHBPT is working with Cheshire West & Chester Council to speed up repair work of Chester City Walls and find additional ways of financing repairs. Watch this space!

CHBPT has recognised the need to update the report on Dee House and is keeping a watchful eye on its deterioration.

Canals and River Trust are now actioned to speak with the owners of the Flat Shed and involve them in urgent discussions about its repair.

Boughton St Paul’s is becoming a cause for concern and likely to become a project for 2024 for CHBPT. Discussions are taking place with the Churches Conservation Trust.

CHBPT takes may of its leads for support from the ‘Heritage at Risk’ List 2022 for Cheshire East, Cheshire West & Chester, Wirral and Halton compiled by Historic England. These are Grade II*, Grade I and Scheduled Monuments only. We work with land and building owners, tenants and authorities to take an interest in, restore and preserve as many as we can and find new, sustainable purpose for them where needed. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them.

Time is ticking! Progress updates on the other projects will appear here soon.

Dates for CHBPT 2023 meetings are:
